Australian Contemporary Landscape Painter
Edwina Edwards grew up in Albury and moved to Melbourne aged 18. After many years in the city, she returned to Albury for a tree change in 2014. Freed from the pressures of city living, Edwina was able to pursue her first true love, art.
Only after returning has Edwina fully appreciated the beautiful hills and terrain of Albury and its surrounds. This countryside, and the memories of a childhood lived within it, are the inspiration for her paintings and drawings.
Edwina’s paints in abstracted landscapes. Her process is not a static reproduction of one point of view; rather it is a process of absorbing her rural surroundings and intuitively putting paint on canvas. The landscapes are rich in colour, rhythm and the accretion of layers creating depth.
Edwina completed her advanced diploma in visual arts in 2016. This exhibition is the culmination of her creative journey thus far.
